About work
The skullcap is made of a combination of brown, light yellow and dark blue colors and is popularly called the “Iraqi skullcap”. The reason for this is in the sewing method: the fabric (surp) is made from embroidered threads and woven into a net, with a colored thin thread. The stitch on it resembles the letter “X” of the Latin alphabet. The lining is sewn on the inside, and the upper and lower parts are interconnected. For greater decorativeness of the kizag (middle), a green jiyak (a narrow strip decorated with various patterns) is sewn onto its lower part. The surface is printed with a scorpion flower and a horned sword ornament, and the edge parts are decorated with light yellow.
