The art of carving is an art form that has been used since ancient times and is second only to pottery in its antiquity. It is mainly carved on copper utensils. This lagan (sometimes called lali) is made of red copper and is considered fireproof. In the center is a star flower motif, and seven turquoise stones are placed in a kadama style. the flange is decorated with the inscription “Lola Hoshiya”. Zamin (places with patterns) are carved shallowly with steel pencils (tools), varnished and polished. Finally, it is polished with parallel cut lines, resulting in a perfect looking piece of art.
