About work
The painting depicts two odd columns of the Oq saroy, one of the most beautiful buildings in Shakhrisabz that have survived to this days. To show the greatness of the building, the artist depicts people watching him at the foot of Aksaroy. They appear very small in front of the building. Not far from them, two people are talking to each other astride a donkey. From the clothes that people wear, you can understand that the time refers to the end of the 18th century and the beginning of the 19th century.
The unique colors of Aksaray walls, Kufic and Sul inscriptions, tiled decorations, mutual harmony of Islamic and Greek motifs are fully revealed in the work. The main ornament visible in the painting is the grikh pattern in the form of a “shield”. The patterns show the magnificence of the building surrounded by blue skies and white clouds.
